...About the problems with rats
EXCERPT:
In little over 200 years a new rodent emerged unnoticed on the sidelines of civilization and, until very recently, undocumented by science or the authorities. Never seen during the day and rarely seen at night these creatures now control the narrow strips of concrete and refuse between opposing lanes of modern hyper-highways. The constant screaming flow of single and multiply-hitched RTVs traveling at their typically extreme velocities made it nearly impossible to cross back over to the old world. Not only was it initially dangerous to do so, it was also entirely unnecessary as these rats, omnivorous by nature, found plenty to survive on in the discards of a society too much in a hurry to pick up after itself.
